The Cooperstown Art Association was formed in 1928 by a group of six professional artists, all closely associated with the community, to serve and maintain interest in the applied and fine arts and to provide the means to increase the community’s awareness and participation in the the arts. It also strives to bring its membership and the public a better understanding and full knowledge of the realm of art, to encourage participation in artistic enterprise and to foster instruction, critique, competition and individual initiative. The CAA is presently located in the Village Hall at 22 Main Street, Cooperstown, where we hold our Annual National Juried Art Exhibition, our Regional Juried Show - “Essential Art”, and our Fine Craft show for New York State craftspeople - “Made in New York.” The CAA also hosts a variety of exciting solo and group exhibits as well as classes, workshops, lectures and special events throughout the year. We welcome new members as well as all patrons of the arts, and as a non-profit, gratefully accept contributions for specific awards or donations for promoting progress in serving the region and the community of Cooperstown.
